Enhance occupant comfort and energy efficiency

Many technologies and certifications that support building and energy efficiency, as well as occupant comfort and well-being are available for Focal Point luminaires and acoustic solutions. Spaces can be enhanced with superior light quality delivered with warm dim or tunable white technologies, while wet location ratings or visible light disinfection ensure the safety of the occupants. Our Connected Solutions program enables the specification of a wide portion of our portfolio for easy integration with common lighting and building control systems, minimizing energy consumption. Color and Light Quality

Tunable White Black Body Curve

Tunable White

Focal Point Tunable White technology enables users to recreate the range of color temperatures offered by natural light throughout the day, allowing them to personalize the spaces that they inhabit and enhancing their mood and alertness. The easy-to-use technology helps reinforce the connection to the environment, providing a light quality that evolves naturally throughout the day, from sunrise, to midday sunshine, to sunset, supporting human activity, well-being, and healing.

Warm Dim Chart

Warm Dim

The warmth and ambiance of natural light sources is available with advanced LED warm dim technology from Focal Point. We offer two warm dim spectra, which have been carefully engineered to closely mimic the black body curves of halogen and incandescent light sources, allowing specifiers to choose that which best meets the design intent and usage of each space, while maintaining a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 90 throughout the range.

Energy Efficiency

Energy Star

Energy Star

ENERGY STAR is a voluntary program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that promotes energy efficiency in a wide range of consumer products and building systems. Our ENERGY STAR certified luminaires have been evaluated for compliance with more than 20 industry standards to ensure energy savings without compromising on light output or color quality. ENERGY STAR partners – including many state and local governments and energy utilities – often provide tax exemptions, credits and rebates for use of ENERGY STAR certified luminaires, including specific products from Focal Point.

Title 24 (JA8)

California’s Building Energy Efficiency Standard Title 24, Part 6 is designed to ensure new and existing residential and nonresidential buildings achieve energy efficiency. Considered one of the strictest energy codes in the United States, it is published and regularly updated by the California Energy Commission (CEC) to preserve the quality of the environment through the reduction of energy usage by limiting the allowed lighting power, in watts, in a building. Residential luminaires must be certified to meet the High Efficacy Lighting standards under Joint Appendix 8 (JA8). Our 2016 & 2019 JA8 High Efficacy Lighting luminaires meet the strict energy standards and other criteria specified by the CEC for both residential and nonresidential applications, ensuring energy savings without compromising on light quality.

Industry Ratings

Ingress Protection Healthcare Patient room

Ingress Protection (IP)

The International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) has developed the ingress protection (IP) ratings, which grade the resistance of an enclosure against the intrusion of dust or liquids. Focal Point IP65 rated luminaires are tested per IEC 60529 to be dust-tight and protected against water jets from any direction.

NSF

An NSF2 Listing denotes that the luminaire has been evaluated for corrosion resistance, cleanability and the ability of exposed material to withstand normal wear. This supports the infection control standards established by healthcare facilities as it indicates that the luminaire is easy to sanitize.

Wet Location

The Underwriters Laboratory (UL) designates as wet location an area in which water and other liquids may drip, splash, or flow on or against the electrical components of the luminaire. Focal Point wet location luminaires are tested to be suitable for use in wet location rated indoor or outdoor environments.
